Nina Collinson Chanel Avias

International Women’s Day is observed and celebrated around the world on the 8th of March. It’s a day for everyone to join in voice and action for a gender-equal world. This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge – a challenged world is an alert world and from that comes real change. We can all choose to challenge, calling out gender bias and celebrating women’s achievements.

Glad Group is making great progress on many aspects of gender equality. There is a deep commitment from the Senior Executive Team to consistently work at achieving gender balance. Currently, 45% of leadership roles within Glad Group are held by women. They are driving positive change within the company and we invite you to get to know them.

On Monday, we introduced Ivana and Bianca, today it’s Nina and Chanel’s turns, and on Friday we will tell you more about Stanojka and Tracy’s stories.

Meet Nina Collinson, National Sustainability Manager

Nina CollinsonNina is our National Sustainability Manager. She has been working at Glad Group for 8 months and has made a huge impact on our approach to Modern Slavery and Sustainability. Nina said to us “Seek out people that can challenge you in life, that give you the confidence to follow your career dreams. Don’t buy into somebody else’s preconceptions is the advice I would offer to the women of Glad Group.

Since she started at Glad Group, Nina told us she really feels respected for who she is and the value that she brings. As a real advocate for equal opportunity who has always believed that the right person should get the job regardless of gender, it is really important to support women to ensure they have a seat at the table.

According to Nina, it is crucial to consider how – as women – we define success and choose to challenge stereotypes around career choices. Success for different people means different things and we need to be supportive without judgment.

Meet Chanel Avias, National Marketing and Communications Manager

Chanel AviasChanel is our National Marketing and Communications Manager and she has been working for Glad Group since 2016. A communications extraordinaire, she is the powerhouse behind the marketing department, creating exciting client presentations, overseeing the company’s social media and creating amazing tender proposals.

“Women have so much to offer. We need to ensure our voices are heard for change to occur. The more conscious we are of equality in the workplace, the more we can start to build career pathways for women that balance professional and personal responsibilities. I am always mindful of driving change through actions that I can take no matter how big or small – you do what you can in your environment.

As an organisation we are definitely making inroads to gender equality. I would encourage the women of Glad Group to keep pushing and not to give up on their career aspirations – keep proving that you can do the job”.
